There is no doubt that Justice delayed tend to ultimately lead to denial of Justice. In an attempt to bring justice closer and easily accessible to the people, the Appellate Court of Appeal, Port Harcourt division embarked on a 2-week special Court sitting in Yenagoa, with the opening session held on the 7th of April, 2014 at the Customary Court of Appeal, Bayelsa State.
Hon. Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, Hon. Justice Kate Abiri remarked that the special Court session is the third of its kind since the creation of the State. She thanked the Hon. Justices of the Court of Appeal for their kind gestures, sacrifice and in the same light requested that a division of the Court be created, taking cognizance of the volume of appeals emanating from the state and the need to ensure effective justice delivery.
Dr. Anthony Okorodas, Chairman of the Yenagoa branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, pontificated that the local branch of the NBA has deposited in it some of the brilliant brains in the legal profession but limitations on practice scope, particularly Appellate practice has robbed some of her best of the silk award. He urged His Lordship, the presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Muhammed Ladan Tsamiya and his brother Justices to convey to the President of the Court of Appeal the collective desire to have a division of the Court of Appeal in the State as this will bring justice closer to the people, greatly enhance appellate practice of local lawyers and elevate profile of Judges by exposing their Judgments to appellate scrutiny.
In his address, Mr. Preye Agedah, the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary in the Bayelsa State Ministry of Justice, pinpointed that the Port Harcourt division is one of the most congested divisions of the Court of Appeal and as such commend the diligence and excellent productivity of their Lordships and further stated that the creation of Yenagoa division of the Appellate Court will drastically decongest the Port Harcourt division.

Justice Daniel Ayah, Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Hon. Justice Muhammed Ladan Tsamiya, Hon. Justice Ejemibi Eko, JCA, Hon. Justice Modupe Fasanmi, JCA, Hon.
