The Hon. Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, Hon. Justice Kate Abiri, on Wednesday, 19th day of June, 2014 received in her hallowed chambers delegates of the Institute for Security Studies Executive Intelligence Management Course 7 on Study Tour.
The delegates led by Dr. A.M Wali, Fsi, spoke on the subject of democratic governance and national security: Challenges and Opportunities. The visit was to expose the delegates to the workings of justice delivery system, particularly at the grass root.
Hon. Justice Adokeme spoke on the role of plea bargaining in the criminal justice system as well as the purport of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). She however corrected some misconceptions about the concept of Plea Bargaining. She pontificated that Plea Bargaining does not out rightly expunge a criminal from criminal liability.
Hon. Justice Kate Abiri intimated the delegates on the efforts put in place towards ensuring effective and efficient justice delivery system in Bayelsa State with a view to strengthening our democracy.
